How To Age Less & Live More

How To Age Less & Live More

How about this for inspiration. Author, blogger and Super Centenarian Bernando LaPallo will be 111 this year, and feels on top of the world: "As I move into my 111th year of life, I still feel great and am grateful for my good health which allows me to stay active both physically and mentally. I have never been sick in my life."

Bernando walks briskly or runs at least a mile daily, reads and writes voraciously, looks half his age, and is called daily by people worldwide eager to hear how he's done it.

How Has He ‘Done It’?

Simplicity, humility and natural living: “You don't need a recipe book or health guide to age less and live more” he says.

According to Bernando what you do need is to "Eat properly and get your rest as stress is a killer."

Specifically, eat: raw fresh veggies, super-foods, raw nuts and berries, extra virgin olive oil, raw honey, cinnamon, fresh garlic, dark chocolate , barley soup, fresh coconut  and plentiful alkaline water.

He especially stresses the value of the following fresh foods since: “Cooking your foods kills the nutrients...”

  • Fresh organic fruit and veggies: for low calorie, high fibre and nutrient rich vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phyto-nutrients and antioxidants boosting vitality and balanced health. He’s a big fan of juiced fruits and veggies
  • High quality, organic, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil: use on the skin as lotion, in foods and salad dressing to lessen the risk of colon cancer and heart disease.
  • Dark, organic chocolate: to lower blood pressure, cholesterol, stress and depression.
  • Organic garlic considered nature's antibiotic which helps to fight coughs and colds, and aids digestion and intestinal health.
  • Organic cinnamon: antibacterial and antifungal; reduces leukemia and lymphoma cancer cells.
  • Organic honey: has antioxidant and antibacterial properties and boosts energy and weight loss.

...all "to be eaten in moderation, slowly, and only at certain times of the day. Ensure you sit down to eat and relax afterwards, as opposed to eat on the go like fastfood drive thru’s".

Bernando credits his health and longevity to his father, a doctor, who lived to be 98. "I can remember things my father told me when I was 8 years old....He told me not to eat processed red meat...He said lamb is OK but red meat, stay away from it. Hot dogs, French fries and all those things don't eat it."

His father also encouraged his culinary interest resulting in Bernando studying cooking at the Sorbonne  School of Culinary Arts in the 1920’s. “We had to learn about the origins of food like barley, coconut and the like and their uses which is something that is not taught in America today.”

Indeed!

Another healthy habit gleaned from his dad is, he says: "treating his body as a temple. It’s important to clean out the colon on a regular basis and to look after your feet and clean them regularly. If our inner vital organs can do the jobs as they were designed, then we should stay healthy and live a long life. Use olive oil rubbed into the skin of the feet and also on your body and face... Then you'll never rust."

Clearly, despite Bernando’s simple life and attitude, his father inspired him to have a rich life worth living.

"He taught me how to live, how to eat and to have faith in God and he would take care of me," smiled LaPallo. "And so far it has happened. Amen."

I think you should use his actual picture in this post.

You can take 2 people feed them the same diet, have them work the same job,get the same exercise, etc and one will live to be 100 while the other drops dead at 60.

There are too many factors outside one's control to predict the same results.

That said I am certainly doing all i can to get there !

Bernando is actually following what Dr. Fuhrman espouses, a Nutritarian diet = 80-90% plant-based + 10-20% animal products.  To ensure my family and I get the daily version of Bernando's diet, I make smoothies with a plethora (21-23 ingredients) of dark green vegetables (kale, spinach, broccoli), chia seeds, dried apricots, turmeric, pepper, acai pulp, wild blueberries, steamed mushrooms + organic green tea (reduces women's risk of getting breast cancer), raw organic cacao (highest anti-oxidant "food", some spices and mushrooms are higher), Ceylon cinnamon, etc.  I also take Xtend Life Total Balance Premium for Men, Cardio-Klenz, Omega 3 Ultra/QH & Neuro Memory, as insurance.  My 91 year old mother drinks one of these high nutrient, high fiber smoothies daily and takes Xtend Life vitamins.  She's doing quite well.  Here's a video link to Bernando's interview:

I have one more unit to add to the equation. I have nothing wrong, yet am an invalid from a colonoscopy I had recently... I went in with separated muscles to be repaired in abdomen, and ended up with not being able to walk because I now have an umbilical hernia with a large overhang because a doctor gave me remeron , to sleep, which causes rapid weight gain as well, ( and I have other hernias ) and the abdominal wall is up high on ribs, not allowing me to breathe well, and also a disturbed bladder and urethra which is bent now at an angle, and all kinds of urgency and frequency urinating..as well as an anal fissure after the procedure..  I am 80 yr old female, and did the abdominal rupture while landscaping..I do want to finish it.

I have been so active mentally and physically, all my life, and filled with vitamins and good foods, yet this can happen to me when I least expect it..
We look for the time we will do things  after retiring, but never think the doctors would be the ones to ruin everything.. and will not repair any of it... mostly saying it is normal for women this age to have these problems.  Does any one know of any research being done in the area of ruptured bellies?  I have found none. It is all considered normal. It was not reported on CT scans either , nor on xrays..
But quite visible to the surgeons who examined me..
They claim not to know of any type of surgery that will help.  Go figure  !!  mary

If i recall, Warren is more in the meat camp, i'm not. Mild exercise, interesting. Also,

stay away from doctors if possible, and if you could follow a solid diet as he's done, i'd say one would not need the vitamins.

Thank you all for your comments and links

David, your 'regime' is AMAZING! Well done...it would take considerable time and effort to get such goodness regularly. I trust you are benefiting?

Mary, what an awful experience. To describe your conditions as 'age related' is simply a way to cover up ignorance.

My first thought would be to get an indepth understanding of what exactly is wrong before going any further. Do you have any local practitioners who are versed in both conventional and alternative health and healing? If not, are you willing to travel to get that expertise?  Please let me know and I may be able to guide you.

    Thanks

    Caramia

The picture that is posted with the blog is not LaPallo.  Why not use a photo of the real LaPallo.
